Brolgas in Flight

A family of three Brolgas take to the air over a bushland setting.

The Brolga is the emblem of the Townsville City Council as these beautiful birds make their home here.

As a rule they are very shy birds and are difficult to photograph as they will leave the area when humans approach closer than 300 metres or so.

This family have been frequenting a local water hole and departed when they spotted me trying to creep up on them in the bush.

They are large birds, with the male often over 2 metres.
