Orb Weaver

Up here in the North everything thrives, including these guys.

Orb Weavers are found throughout the bush here but this one, and its family, have set up camp at an intersection joining the motorway.

Situated in an elevated position next to an overpass a ozen or more of these big spiders have set up shop weaving webs between the traffic lights and light poles.

At night the intersection is well lit with street lamps, meaning brisk business for the spiders as the insects are attracted to the lights.
